COVID-19 Health and Safety Reminders

March 8th, 2021

Morguard understands the importance of following COVID-19 regulations. Together we are making sure our properties are safe for you - our residents and visitors. We've implemented several policies to help protect the health and safety of our communities and neighbours. Here's what we're doing to help keep you safe:

Wearing a Mask
Wearing a mask is mandatory when in indoor public spaces and common areas. This includes elevators, stairwells, hallways, lobbies, etc.

Virtual, Video and Self-Guided Tours
Our physically distanced tours allow you to see your new home safely. Tour options vary by location.

Cleaning High Touch Areas
We are frequently cleaning and disinfecting high-touch areas in our common areas and amenities.

Stay Home If Sick
If employees are sick or experiencing symptoms, they are encouraged to stay home.

If you have any questions about the guidelines and protocols specific to your area, we recommend speaking with your community manager.

Keeping Our Communities Safe During The Holiday Season

December 21st, 2020

With the holiday season approaching, we'd like to remind you of the importance of following your community's COVID-19 regulations. Depending on your region, masks are recommended or mandatory when in indoor public spaces and common areas. This includes your building's elevators, stairwells, hallways, lobbies, etc. This works alongside the previously implemented guidelines to help keep you and your family safe.

We understand these are stressful times. However, it's especially important now for everyone to continue to work together, in a respectful and supportive manner, to help safeguard the health and safety of our communities.

Morguard remains dedicated to the health, safety and wellbeing of our residents, team members and communities. We appreciate your understanding and assistance with this.

Have a safe and happy holiday season.

Keeping Our Communities Safe – Together

October 6th, 2020

New Days. New Ways

Over the past few months, a lot has changed. Together we are making sure our communities are safe for you - our residents, your family and visitors. Guided by the safety measures provided by the government, we continue to be committed to the health and wellbeing of our neighbours and communities. We will continue to provide updates and safety measures in accordance with local health authorities and regional governments.

Each of us is embracing a new normal in all aspects of our lives. Whether at work or at play, we are finding new ways to interact and create connections while remaining 6ft (or 2 meters) apart. We remind you, for the safety of our neighbours and communities, to continue physical distancing practices in shared spaces. These unprecedented times have been eased thanks to the respect and compassion of our team members, neighbours, and communities.

  • If you or anyone in your unit is in mandatory self-isolation, you are also required to stay in your home;
  • If you have traveled, it is government mandated to self-isolate for 14 days;
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds;
  • If soap is unavailable, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol;
  • Maintain a safe distance of 6 feet or 2 meters between yourself and others;
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands;
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick; and
  • Stay home when you are sick.

If you believe to have been in contact with someone you know or suspect to have COVID-19, please contact your local health authorities.

Thanks to the incredible work of our valued team members and to you for embracing the new normal, we are working side by side to rebuild.

Thank you for doing your part.

A Note to Our Residents

April 13th, 2020

As these unique and challenging times continue to unfold, we want to reassure you that Morguard remains dedicated to the health, safety and wellbeing of our residents, team members and communities. Our #MorguardCARES culture of compassion, kindness and community carries us through, ensuring that no matter how difficult the circumstances, we will find a way through it, together.

We know that many of you are facing difficult choices ahead, as employers respond to the changing socio-economic environment caused by COVID-19. Along with the steps we’ve already put in place to safeguard our residents, we’ve modified our policies to reduce the financial hardship for those in need. Morguard is dedicated to helping those that have been directly impacted by the pandemic; if you have suffered financially, please contact your Community/Property Manager to discuss what resident relief options are available to you. We’re in this together and will work with you to achieve a solution.

We also encourage residents to apply for resources that are being offered by federal, regional and local governments, as well as community organizations, to assist in obtaining financial assistance, food and healthcare. Below is a list of resources you may find helpful for your unique situation.

For those not financially impacted by COVID-19, we would like to thank you again for your rent payments and continued support of our team. We rely heavily on timely payments to fulfil our communities’ financial obligations, such as property maintenance expenses, insurance and mortgages, as well as provide for the livelihood of our team members. They are committed to addressing your needs, maintaining cleanliness and keeping our residents comfortable and secure in their homes.

We want you to know that Morguard’s dedication to you and your family is unwavering. We understand that these are trying times, and we’re here to help. Our people are at the center of everything we do, and we want to thank you again for choosing to be a part of our Morguard family.

COVID-19 Updates for Morguard Residents

April 2nd, 2020

In these uncertain and unprecedented times, we want to assure you that Morguard remains committed to the health and safety of our residents, team members and communities. We’re actively following the recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC), as our top priority is providing a clean, caring and safe environment for those in our communities and workplaces. Though we’ve implemented new working practices in an effort to practice the highest level of caution, our virtual offices remain open and available to you. You are an integral part of our Morguard family, and we’re here to help as best as we can.

While we continue to monitor the rapidly evolving circumstances surrounding the COVID-19 outbreak, we’ve put together some recommendations and information that we hope may be helpful to you.

While our proximity brings us together as neighbors and friends, it’s our social connection that ties us together as a community. Though we understand that social distancing is an essential part of mitigating the virus’ spread and urge everyone to comply with this provisional “new norm,” we’re dedicated to maintaining the strong sense of community that our residents value. Though we must maintain some physical distance, it’s essential that we stay socially connected.

As we remain hopeful for a return to normalcy, public health authorities recommend taking the following precautions:

  • Avoid non-essential gatherings and crowded places;
  • Maintain a safe distance of 6 feet or 2 meters between yourself and others;
  • Stay at home and only travel outside for essential needs such as groceries or healthcare;
  • Avoid common greetings, such as handshakes and face-to-face meetings; and
  • Limit contact with people at higher risk like the elderly and those with underlying health issues.

Though this volatile and uncertain COVID-19 environment has disrupted our daily lives, please know that we are and will remain steadfast in Morguard’s commitment to exceptional service. Community is the foundation of our organization, and the essence of everything we do. Due to the rapidly evolving nature of the virus and its effects on our society, we’ve implemented some precautionary measures to help protect our communities and prevent the spread of COVID-19.

While we love spending time with our neighbors and friends, thank you for understanding that for now, our communities have implemented the following changes:

  • Our physical offices are temporarily closed, but our virtual offices remain open and we’re ready to assist you! Please don’t hesitate to call or email us should you have any questions or concerns.
  • In-person resident events are temporarily on-hold and will resume in the following months; however, our online social communities remain active! Take part in your community’s social media campaigns by submitting photos of you, your pets and your loved ones to be featured on your community’s social pages as well as on Morguard Apartments’ corporate social pages.
  • All non-essential amenities (fitness center, pool, business center, etc.) are taking a break, but not for too long! In the meantime, take the time to enjoy your Morguard apartment home by knocking out some Spring Cleaning or redecorating your safe space.
  • Our maintenance teams are temporarily addressing maintenance emergencies only and deferring non-emergency requests, but rest assured, if you have a maintenance emergency a member of our team will be there shortly to assist.

We’ve intensified our cleaning and sanitizing processes and guidelines and we’re constantly reviewing our procedures to maximize our efforts wherever possible. While we can’t control what happens outside of our doors, we’ve implemented a variety of safeguards and policies to keep our common areas and shared spaces clean and sanitized to the best of our ability.

To do your part in reducing the spread of the virus, public health officials recommend the following course of action:

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds;
  • If soap is unavailable, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol;
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands;
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick and stay home if you are sick;
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue or your elbow;
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces;
  • If you’ve recently traveled, it is recommended in the U.S. (and mandatory in Canada) to self-isolate for 14 days and monitor for symptoms; and
  • If you develop any symptoms it is encouraged that you contact the public health authority in your area or a heath care provider for advice on next steps.

As we navigate past the initial uncertainties surrounding the virus and adjust as needed, we want you to know that Morguard’s commitment to your health, and to your family’s safety, will be unwavering. We will continue to monitor COVID-19 and communicate updates to you as the situation evolves. In the meantime, we urge you to follow the guidance of your public health officials in the coming days and weeks.

We’re grateful that you’ve chosen us to be a part of your journey and your place to call “home”. Our #MorguardCARES culture of compassion, kindness and community ensures that no matter how challenging the circumstances, we will overcome this daunting challenge - together.

Thank you for allowing us to be your safe haven,

Morguard’s Residential Team
