If you’re anything like us, you’ve already prepared your Oscar acceptance speech. You know who you’ll thank and the exact moment you’ll start to tear up. It’s a fun way to picture ourselves being in the spotlight on one of the biggest nights in entertainment. It’s also the perfect night to come together with your closest friends and family and feel like high society. Admire the stars dressed to the nines, swoon over their speeches, and be awestruck at the results. That said, we’ve put together the ultimate Oscars viewing party guide so that you too can have a night to remember.
The Award Goes To...
Invite your attendees to participate in the Hollywood Games. Select any of these options, they’re sure to give great laughs and a competitive flare to the evening. Each guest will complete an Oscar ballot and you’ll collect it before the show begins. You can create your own, or find a printable version from IndieWire. A throwback to MadLibs, each guest will complete an acceptance speech and read it aloud to the rest of the party. Punchbowl created a game of bingo for this year’s Oscars as well. This game is an attention grabber, so your guests won’t get bored throughout the show. At the end of the night, announce the winners depending on the games you play. Just for the occasion, find a mini-Oscar statue and include it in gift baskets for the winners.
Strike A Pose
Why should the celebrities be the only fancy ones? Give your guests a reason to go all out when they step through your door. Set up a photo booth or backdrop near the entrance. Be ready with props and a red carpet for their photo op. It will kick the party off right with laughter and a gift to take home. This will make it a night to remember.
Pop The Bubbly
The key to a great party is always the food and drinks. Fortunately, there are plenty of trendy ideas out there to wow your guests. You can stick to an Old Hollywood theme and create a short list of classic cocktails. Allow your attendees to order off the menu and watch you shake up something tasty. Go with a colorful and creative twist on your menu. Create a candy buffet pairing each treat with a themed sign and gold glitter. If your couch isn’t enough space, grab some pillows and blankets and toss them on the floor, creating a cozy viewing area.
We hope that our tips and tricks help you host the ultimate Academy Awards viewing party in your Morguard apartment this February! Do you have any other party tips for us to add? Connect with us on Twitter or Facebook and let us know!
